Celtro Aids Telefónica Móviles de México to Secure Emergency Mobile Communication

Celtro technology helps boost Telefónica Móviles de México's critical cellular communications capacity during flood emergency

Tel Aviv, Israel, March 13, 2008 – Celtro, a leading supplier of cellular backhaul switching solutions, provided capacity-enhancing technology to help Mexican cellular provider Telefónica Móviles de México (TMM) supply much-needed communications services during a flood emergency in Tabasco.

TMM turned to Celtro in November last year, to quickly increase network capacity in Tabasco, after heavy rainfall caused rivers to burst, flooding the state capital, Villahermosa and leaving 20,000 people homeless. Insufficient communication bandwidth to areas cut off by the flooding, and the subsequent service line congestion left TMM unable to meet demand from stranded customers and their rescuers.

Responding quickly under tough conditions, the Celtro team implemented its DynaMate solution in a matter of hours, giving a six-fold increase in capacity and providing TMM with enough capacity to supply demand.  Three months after one of Mexico's worst natural disasters hit Tabasco, Celtro’s DynaMate solution is still in operation, as cleanup efforts continue.

"As we have seen in past natural disasters, cellular communications are often a matter of life and death," explained Ron Zor, Chairman and CEO of Celtro. "Although we honestly didn't expect the inherent advantages of our solutions – especially dramatic capacity increase and rapid deployment – to actually save lives, are proud that we were able to help TMM to lend support when it was needed most," he concluded.
